About the Author
Abe Abdelhadi is from Los Angeles, CA. He played in several rock bands in the late 80s and early 90s and has had his music featured on television and has published several short stories and poems. He worked in various capacities in the music and film businesses before becoming an essayist and author. He is in the process of converting his essay website, “This is the Deal,” into a book containing previously published short stories, poems and new short stories. He also performs standup comedy and currently lives in Austin, TX. After college, he moved to Pasadena, CA where there was a thriving music scene and his band was based. Mayan Tango played the L.A. circuit with abandon. They played with such groups as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Primus. His mixed Arab and Brazilian heritage gives him a unique perspective as he was raised in South L.A. when it was still called South Central Los Angeles. He grew up in a factory region, where General Motors, Firestone and Bethlehem Steel were based. This was a far cry from the stereotypical West Los Angeles/Hollywood, show business image most associate with being “from L.A.” Nevertheless, the arts and the desire to connect have been paramount in his life, culminating into this latest work, “All Together Now.”

Read this novel in one day, which is a first for me. An enlightening perspective on issues beyond our borders and beyond the borders of my comprehension. A must read for everyone! Great job Abe! An inspiration to say the least.

This book is well written, entertaining and insightful. It's a must read and I recommend it highly. I loved the characters and the plot. Mr. Abdelhadi is a very promising author and I can't wait for his next book!!

This is a very good first book

This is a very good first book! Abe Abhelhadi, got into the mind of a 23 year old American musician of mixed heritage. Deep seated and traditional culture does a "tug of war" with modern thinking. A young man is asked to do something highly unusual and he came away with a better understanding of life, family and culture. Sharp insight delivered a riveting story with an ending I was not expecting!

Reforming Women’s Fashion is a very well-researched book that discusses the viewpoints of both the individuals and groups involved in dress reform in Europe and America. The author goes into minute detail about their various efforts at reform and contains many wonderful illustrations of Bloomer-style and aesthetic dress. Though sometimes repetitive, the text is well-written and based primarily upon nineteenth-century documents. As an extra plus, it includes many illuminating quotes. It should be of great interest to anyone wanting to learn about the nineteenth-century dress reform movement.

I first heard of these books while listening to NPR radio in 2003, in an interview with the author, it was quite interesting. If you put NPR radio and Captain Underpants in your computers browser you should find it too.

I read the book before sending it to my seven year old grandson, he loves to read and I know he will love this book. I also bought.

Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets, the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies From Outer Space, The Big, Bad Battle of the Bonic Booger Boy Part 1, the Big Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boyo Part 2/ 4 Books

They are quite easy to read, and so funny, kids won't want to put them down until they have finished reading them.

Some reviewers were concerned about misspelled words, which show up at the beginning of the books, where the first few pages explain the basics of each of the books in this series, with comic like drawings. The words are misspelled on purpose, to add to the naivity, of two boys, who love to be mischievous. There are other places in the books, with the misspelled words, but the main part of the book is spelled correctly.

The book has childlike illustrations throughout the book, and pages you flip with your fingers, which is meant to give the appearance of animation.

I can't wait to buy more of these books to send to my grandson.

but my son enjoyed reading it

My son who is 9 years old and not much of a reader read and finished this book on a roadtrip of 10 hours there and back. He obviously didn't read the entire time, but was very captivated when he was reading. I initially "encourage" him to start the book and after about 30 minutes of him reading I told him he could stop reading if he wanted to. He chose to continue reading for another 30 minutes if not more. He NEVER chooses to read more if he doesn't have to. Then on our way back home no "encouragement" was needed from me he just started reading on his own. I can't tell you what this book is about, because I didn't read it myself, but my son enjoyed reading it.

Just what my 8 year old son wants to read!

Bathroom humor, crazy antics and a comic strip included...he loves it!!

My son has been the so-called 'reluctant reader'-- mostly because he is extremely stubborn and likes to be 'opposite-boy'. On the one hand he wants to have everything and do everything like his big brother does. BUT, he needs it on his own terms, or has to do it with his own twist. (No Mama, I won't do Kung Fu, I want to do Karate).

So, I was faced with an 8 year old who would like to reject reading. Mom does it, Pop does it, and Brother does it. For fun. Even just a few months ago my youngest did not WANT to read. However, for homework (I love his teacher) he has to keep a reading log AND read EVERY NIGHT. With both home and school influences he really did read, but didn't enjoy himself.

Trying to find books that engage him has been tough. So much for the entire Magic Tree House series. Of course we own the whole series (well through about 2008 anyway), but that was his brother's thing to read, and my little one just won't pick them up unless forced, sigh.

I found the answer when I stumbled across a Harry the Horrible. This child of mine loves the rambunctious and smart types, even rebels, and Captain Underpants is right up his alley.

Has my child become disobedient, disrespectful, or does he get in trouble at school now? Of course not!

I've read some of the critical comments about Captain Underpants in terms of modeling behavior and level of humor, and well, get real. Oddly enough, the lad likes 8-year-old-boy humor. He enjoys the funny aspects of the stories and knows the difference between real life and story life. (Of course parental input and awareness are useful--'you would't REALLY do that right???').

In any case, on my son's report card there is a category for 'reading for fun and information' and on his most recent card he got the highest mark! My previously reluctant read is now doing very well! Is it really Captain Underpants? Surely not entirely, but allowing him to read what he likes seems to be just the ticket and Captain Underpants has been a tremendously popular series at my house!
